UNDAED (WSAU) Two rivers in Wisconsin are over their banks this afternoon – but the flooding has been minor, and officials say it’s not expected to get much worse.

The National Weather Service said the Fox River at New Munster in Kenosha County is a foot over its flood stage, and it’s expected to crest at almost three-feet above flood stage on Tuesday night. The Sugar River at Brodhead is about three-inches over its banks, and there was no immediate word on when it would drop. Minor flooding was expected in both instances. Mild temperatures, rain, and melting snow have all contributed to the situation. The weather service says parts of four other rivers are within a foot-and-a-half of their flood stages, and minor floods are expected. Warnings will continue through next Wednesday on the Kickapoo River at Gays Mills and Steuben, and the Trempealeau River at Dodge. A warning continues until further notice on the Pecatonica River at Martintown, and the Yellow River at Babcock in central Wisconsin.

Forecasters say light rain is either likely or possible throughout much of the state through Sunday.
