UNDATED (WSAU) Winter is not over yet, but Wisconsin is already getting thunderstorms and hail damage.

The National Weather Service reported the year’s first thunder-boomers around 3:30 this morning in Wisconsin Rapids, and four o’clock in Green Bay. An upper-level disturbance brought them in. It was Green Bay’s first thunderstorm since last August 28th. Also, Loganville in Sauk County had quarter-inch hail overnight – something you normally don’t see in the winter.

There was also pea-sized hail in Darlington, and half-inch hail near Mount Horeb. Forecasters say isolated thunderstorms are possible in southern Wisconsin this morning, with rain likely in most of the state. Last night, officials said visibility was down to just a few feet between Beaver Dam and West Bend. Mild temperatures are expected to continue, with highs today in the 40’s-and-50’s.
